Counting down the days...

So, I'm 12 days and counting until Riley's due date. At our last doctor's appointment, which was this past Tuesday, I'm between 2.5 and 3 cm dialated, which means I'm still progressing, but who knows when Riley will decide to arrive! They did a growth check the week before, and she was measuring 6 lbs. 4 oz, so I estimate she's a little over 6.5 lbs (if you put much trust into these measurements). From what I've read, these ultrasound growth measurements aren't necessarily accurate, it's just a best guess. But, my doctor predicts she won't be over 7.5 lbs at delivery, which is music to my ears since I was almost 9 lbs, and Chris was almost 10 lbs. I've been having regular contractions for at least a week now, but they are between 45 minutes and an hour apart. They aren't painful to speak of, I just wish they would progress a little, so we can get this show on the road!

My goal for the next 2 days will be to get the rest of the nursery put together and get pictures posted for everyone.

Columbus Baby Shower

This past weekend, Chris's home church in Columbus, where his parents and grandparents still attend, threw us another wonderful baby shower. Chris skipped out and enjoyed a Saturday morning on the river fishing with his dad, while the rest of us gathered at the church. My mom came from Hattiesburg, along with my grandmother and aunt. I think we counted about 35 people who came, and Riley got lots and lots of adorable outfits, some of which were MSU bulldog themed, a few more blankets, toys, diapers, and other necessities. It was a great shower, and we feel so blessed for so many people to be this excited about this little baby.

Following the shower, my mom, grandmother, and aunt, along with Chris, his mom, grandmother, and aunt all gathered for a ladies lunch with Chris. I think he enjoyed being the only male among the females! It was a fun shower and a great weekend in Columbus. This was my last weekend to travel, since Riley is due in 3 weeks!

Work Baby Shower

My office threw us a baby shower back on July 10th, and we got lots of useful stuff. The cake and snacks were great, and we really appreciate all the gifts for Riley!

Birthday and Baby Shower

Yes, I have lots to write about since I haven’t blogged in a while, so I’ll start with the weekend of July 4th. We began the extended weekend celebration Thursday night at Powell Park in Collierville to watch the fireworks display with the Garner’s and White’s, as well as April’s parents. It was lots of fun, and the fireworks were great.

Friday, July 4th, was my birthday. I’m a whole 26 years old. My day began with breakfast in bed, which was so sweet and yummy! Chris really hit a homerun! My mom arrived around noon on Friday, and assisted me in cooking some meals to stock away in our new freezer for when Riley arrives, and I’m too tired to cook. By the way, we purchased a new fridge for the kitchen as well as a standup freezer for the garage the week before. Friday night, we had dinner with the Garners, and returned for cake and ice cream at our house. It was a very nice birthday.

Saturday, mom and I did a little shopping. We spent the afternoon with family and friends rolling in for the baby shower. Maris, April, Debbie and Leann (our neighbors) threw us a couples baby shower. Unfortunately it rained, so we couldn’t hang out by Debbie and Leann’s new pool, but everyone had a great time. Chris’s parents came up, my brother and his girlfriend came, Ashley and Landon were here from Birmingham, along with other friends from here in Collierville.

This is a diaper cake all the hostesses gave us. It is made of over 100 diapers, and all usable products. It's almost too cute to take apart! The dirty diapers are a game we played by guessing the melted candy bar.

Below is another game we played. It was a relay consisting of having to chug a baby bottle of apple juice, change a diaper blind folded and a pacifier in the mouth, and then guessing which flavor of baby food you were being fed. The girls watching have never laughed so much!

Mom left around noon on Sunday, but she helped me put together more of the nursery. I’ll post pictures soon.
